Something NEW: Experience based Global Ed - Hybrid model: Online/Home/Panama (one Semester)

I am looking for partner teachers to develop, along with me, a partial online cultural studies program and part residential (In Panama) international secondary Global Ed opportunity.

The intention is to get English speaking students from around the Province of BC working with a language/Leadership/Global Ed/English (or other) teacher for fifteen weeks (8 credits) and then moving to an international site (Panama) for five weeks (another 8 credits). This constitutes one full semester - three quarters hybrid/online - one quarter on site in Panama for Practical portion of cultural studies. Who wants in? I would like serious teachers (without paradigm borders) to jump in for a sustainable long term ongoing program. Also looking for corporate involvement to partner in the plans.

Hi Dave, I will write more tomorrow. But I just wanted to say that I am sure that the office of Learning for a Sustainable Future would be interested in this project and could link us with York University.

Talk to you tomorrow,
Helene

Hi David,

Thank you for contacting me. I can't believe the timing for your proposal. I just completed my M.Ed at UBC and developed a literacy curriculum based on digital literacies and the environment (particularly about water issues). I am currently in touch with the Blue Planet Run Foundation with whom I am considering doing the global element of my curriculum in Guatemala but Panama sounds just as good, and perhaps both would be possible.

Next year, I was also planning on teaching part-time in order to start working on opening an independent school that would focus on Education for a Sustainable Development. So it sounds ideal to me to be part of a project already on the go that appears to match my goals for the future.

What time line are you looking at? And what would be the involvement required over the summer?

I look forward to hearing more about it!
Best,
Helene
